Emily drove alone down past the vibrant fluorescent lights that led to her house. The rain was pouring down at this point, even the windshield wipers could not go fast enough to make her view out the window clear. She debated on pulling over, but didn’t want to waste any time when she was so close to home. Her phone vibrates, startling her as it laid on the console. Emily glanced down swiftly at the screen, noticing it was her mom texting her. “Are you almost home?” the screen drew black and Emily glanced back up trying to see through the violent rain pounding against the window. She was enervated again and she fell asleep.

A loud beeping sound disturbed her. “Is she going to be okay?” a distant voice of a woman said over and over again. The woman seemed to be sobbing. At this time, Emily couldn’t even open her eyes. She had no feeling in her body, she almost felt dead. The voice was fading in and out of her mind, “Is she going to be okay?” over and over again. Emily wanted so badly to open her eyes, but there was no way. It was impossible. She felt like she was under water, with weights tied on her legs and she was slowly sinking deeper and couldn’t get back up. Then there was black, and it was just black. All she could see was black.

She gasped for air and shot up. “Woah, are you alright?!” the boy was staring at her from the other side of the room. Emily just stared at him with a blank look. The boy just laughed again. “Why are you laughing?” He just smiled at her, revealing his bright straight teeth. “My names Daniel, if you were wondering…” and he kept laughing. All Emily could do was laugh. The fear that was recently over here seemed to have passed, and she felt nothing but happiness. They both sat there, laughing at each other. Emily glanced down at her hands, wrapped in bandages. “What happened to my hands?” she questioned. “Well I’m not sure, but they looked pretty nasty. So I wrapped them up for you. I was hoping you would know, but if you don’t, then that’s fine.” He answered her; his voice was calm and comforting.
