My Career
The career field I chose is to be a firefighter. The reason why I want to be a firefighter is because they help people and prevent fires from spreading. I’ve always wanted to help people everywhere, because I don’t like it whenever if there is an accident and some people died and lost their loved ones, people talking crap about them and just talking and pointing the cameras in their face watching them cry. I want to help people and make a difference and help protect people’s life, and be someone people recognize when I walk by them.

Firefighters respond to emergency situations and mostly protect people from the environment and from all types of accidents. They work with the community to increase fire safety awareness’s in order to help fires from occurring in the first place. Firefighters enforce fire safety standards in public by acting and advising on all matters to the protection of life and property from fire and other risks. The primary function of a firefighter is to protect the community form disasters and promote on environment of public safety. The maximum daily hours of work that a firefighter may be scheduled to work is twenty four hours.

It really doesn’t madder what gender you are, it really just matters if you can handle the heat and the pressure. Most department require a person to be at least eighteen or older. One requirement is to take a three hour psychological test that screens applicants for their ability to work and solve problems. The physical test is a major part of the examination to be a firefighter it requires agility, strength and stamina. The physical agility examination is designed to evaluate the person’s ability to perform firefighting activities. Firefighters must have a high level of aerobic energy, strength and a significant ability to resist burnout. A firefighter needs to be patient, curious toward learning a little bit about everything, goal oriented, able to focus on directions and assigned tasks during and emergency situation, courageous to look past fear and help others. To be a firefighter, you usually need a high school diploma and college fitness, and vision requirements.

You don’t need a college degree to become a firefighter, but you do need specialized training before you’ll be hired by a fire department. Firefighter training takes around twelve to sixteen weeks to complete.
