Abortion: Should It Be Illegal Or Not?

920 words - 4 pages

What would you do if you were a 15-year-old girl who got pregnant? Would you keep the baby or would you have an abortion? These are all questions that go through most girls’ minds, even if they are pregnant or not. According to the Internet site wikipedia, the word abortion is defined as ”A pregnancy that ends with an infant dead upon birth at any gestational stage, due to causes including spontaneous abortion or complications during delivery, is termed a stillbirth.” According to the internet website, Therapeutic Abortion, Natalie E. Roche who is a mother of a four-year-old girl says, “Abortion should be illegal because even though the born child may not be born successfully, it could still be said as an another name for murder.” But even though it is said that abortion could be said as an another name for murder from Natalie E. Roche, we should oppose the fact and say that abortion should not be illegal because there are many reasons that people terminate their child that was given to this world, such as issues of perceived immaturity, financial stability, and because of health problems.First of all, there are people that are given a baby because of perceived immaturity. These days there are some kids that do not get any education about having a child, which results in having a baby. Even though they are given a new life, they still have not got to the age that they are ready to raise a child. If having an abortion was considered illegal, then they will have the rest of their life raising their child not being able to go to school getting more education that they should get for their age. According to the internet website, wikipedia, they say that “It has been estimated approximately 46 million abortions are performed globally each year and about one thirds out of this number is done because they are still have not got to the age they can raise a child.” If the under-aged mother with no education raise a child, then the child that was raised would also be an uneducated child which ends up doing the same thing. So the abortion policy should not be considered illegal because then the world will be full of uneducated people. The second reason is because there are people that have to terminate the fetus because of an economical problem. Even though the mother and the father loved each other and was given a child, if the two don’t have enough savings to bear a child and also raise a child, then they will have to terminate the child. According to the Internet site report, Reasons Why Women Have Induced Abortions, “The desire to stop childbearing an limiting family size because of economical issue is a very common reason given by women seeking abortion. In almost half of the 23 studies (in 20...
