Co-curricular activities are the play times that help many students look forward to school. However this may not be the case for some students. This may be due to many reasons such as parents objections or the dislikes the student might have towards his or her co-curricular activity. Co-Curricular activities are the components of non-academic curriculum which helps to develop various facets of the personality development of a child. For all-round development of the child, there is a need of emotional, physical, spiritual and moral development that is complemented and supplemented by co-curricular activities. Co-curricular activities are defined as the activities that enable to supplement and complement the curricular activities. These are the very important part and parcel of education institutions to develop the students’ personality as well as to strengthen the classroom learning. These activities are organized after the school hours. Some examples of co-curricular activities are sports, performing arts, clubs and societies and uniform groups. There are many views towards Co-curricular activities by many students and parents. Some parents may strongly support their child in his or her co-curricular activity while some parents might get frustrated with the number of days his or her child has to return home late.
The first advantage of Co-Curricular activities is that it improves the confidence and esteem of students. Recent studies shows that teenagers face a lack of confidence when they feel that they are good at nothing. Not all students can equally score great in academics. It is important to make these students feel like they are capable of doing something. Academic grades are not the end of the world. This is only possible when one is enrolled into co-curricular activities of their choice. Co-curricular activities not only boost one’s self confidence but also build their esteem. In addition, working on something of their choice gives them the opportunity to master their talent. Therefore, enrolling one into Co-curricular activities is a good way to boost one’s self confidence and self esteem
