It’s one of the major, thickly populated industrial cities of Northern India and famous for its historical, religious and commercial significance. It is one of the important educational centers of the country. It is a home for textile, leather, engineering, fertilizer, two wheeler, pan masala, soap and chemical industries. A variety of goods are being exported from this place. Later the Airports Authority of India had planned for the expansion of Chakeri Civil Enclave. This was done, anticipating a large growth in human traffic over here.
The development of Chakeri airport was done in two phases. During the first phase the terminal building that was existing, was expanded by building a visitors’ lounge and giving a new car parking facility. This is for managing and handling the human traffic. During the second phase, a fifty acre plot was added to the existing place to build the new civil air terminal.
Now the flights are not only operated regularly to many cities of India but also to various European, Asian, Gulf, African and American countries.
