Nobody wants to grow up to be a drunk. Although drinking alcohol may be enjoyable in social situations and it looks cool, it is a terrible addiction and is considered a type of drug abuse. Mothers expecting a child can really harm the child by consuming alcohol. Alcohol can cause the body to make terrible decisions such as drunk driving which not only puts the drinker in danger, but also puts everyone else in danger. The abuse of alcoholic beverages can cause a person to become an alcoholic. Underage drinking is illegal and harmful, but that does not stop minors from partying. Alcoholics can cause emotional pains throughout the family causing the families to suffer. Many people enjoy drinking but very few people understand the harm it is doing to the health of their bodies, and how it can ruin their lives. Alcoholism can have a negative effect on a person’s overall character, health, and morals.
Alcohol abuse is a very substantial problem nowadays, but not a lot of people understand what is happening to their health when they consume an alcoholic beverage. Alcohol has a great deal of negative, or harmful effects on a persons body and health. "Alcohol Abuse Health Center" as published on WebMD, states that "Long term heavy drinking harms your liver, nervous system, heart, and brain. It can cause health problems or make them worse." If it is true that long term drinking can cause all these health problems, this shows that alcohol is a huge health threat to your body.
Not only does it harm a person’s internal health, but it affects a persons social aspects and behavior. "Alcohol abuse can also contribute to stomach problems, interactions between medicines and alcohol, and sexual problems. It can lead to violence, accidents, social isolation, and problems at work, school or home. You also have legal problems, such as traffic tickets or accidents, as a result of drinking." (Alcohol Abuse Health Center). Clearly, alcohol abuse cause not only health problems but other outside the body problems such as socially, sexually, and legal problems.
Alcohol abuse is not just affecting one type of person, it is a problem among many races, both genders, and almost a variety of different ethnicities. According to “Alcohol Abuse” as published on Psychology Today:
