Panic Disorder is a type of anxiety that leads to severe panic attacks that cause dizziness, shaking, confusion, and nausea. These attacks normally last 10 minutes, but can last for hours. They can occur after a traumatic event or can be spontaneous. Normally after a person has one, they expect more, which can lead to drastic life changes.

If you think you have a severe anxiety problem, the first thing you should always do is go see a doctor. Never try to self-medicate, as that can lead to very bad things. If you go to a doctor, they may prescribe antidepressants, beta-blockers, or anti-anxiety drugs, as they are the most common drugs used to control some of the physical symptoms that anxiety causes. Antidepressants, even though they were invented to help people with depression, are often used to stop anxiety. After taking these antidepressants, a series of changes must occur for the medicine to take effect, usually about four to six weeks for the symptoms to fade. Also, you have to keep taking these meds if you want the results to continue.

Anti-anxiety pills were created to help people with anxiety. However, they have many side effects, like drowsiness. They are also highly addictive, because many people have to keep raising their doses to get the same outcome as they did before. Therefore, it is really easy for people to get addicted, especially if they already have alcohol and drug problems. The only disorder you can have that lets you take this drug for up to a year is if you have Panic Disorder.

Another drug you may be prescribed with is a beta-blocker. Though generally used as heart medicine, people have found success in taking these to control their anxiety. People have found that these block a lot of the physical symptoms of anxiety, especially when the feared situation can be predicted.
The most effective way to treat anxiety is by psychotherapy. In psychotherapy therapists use Cognitive Behavioural therapy to help figure out what is causing anxiety and how to live and get over it. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBD, is used to change patients thinking patterns so they can cope in situations that make them anxious. An example of this is when people who are scared of dirt and germs, are told to get their hands messy and then they can not wash their hands. They do this each session, making the time longer and longer until they can wash...
