America in 100 Years What will America be like in 100 years? I'm not really sure. I'd like to say it will be improved. There would be no crime, corruption, or environmental problems, it would be the perfect place to live. But at the rate we are going now, America could be very disappointing in 100 years. Betsy Carpenter, a staff writer for "U.S. News and World Report" and editor for "Science" magazine stated that with more people in America there would be more pollution. She was referring to Presley Creek, an inlet on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. Sadly, many Americans all over live in very polluted areas due to streams and rivers being used as dumps. Landfills are becoming over-filled with debris and individuals take it upon themselves to litter our highways and trash the natural beauty that exsisted in our rivers and streams. Industry contrubuted to a lot of the pollution. Chemicals very dangerous from plants and factories were not discarded in a safe proper fashion, but were instead hauled to small streams in drums and emptied into the water.Many died upon becoming exposed to this health hazzard from either direct contact or simply by consuming it through their drinking water. Citations and huge fines were warranted to some companies, but so many companies still continued to pollute with innocent victims dieing due to their no conscious and malicious act to harm.
