We all know that we won the American Revolution. Do we know what happened through all the years that the men fought for our country? Through the approximately ten battles the Americans and England had Americans only won about half. In this paper I will analyze the battles, medics, and soldiers the made it possible for us to split from England.

The life of the soldier has many struggles in the war. Sometimes it’s hard for some one trying to sleep with cannons go of even worse for some one who don’t know where they’re pointed. “I was in this place a fort night and can say that I never lay down to sleep a minute in all that time”. These men had a barrack about thirty feet from the fort wall; the cannon ball could easily kill them in their sleep. It isn’t easy for a soldier to stand up for what he believes
The conditions the soldiers show that they have been through more than anyone wants to. Private Joseph Martin explains why the Grape shot was so lethal. “They would elevated grape shots from their mortar, and the sentries had cried, a shot and the soldiers, not seeing the shot arrive, would become careless, the grape shot would come down like a shower of hail about our ears”. The soldiers thought maybe the shot hit somewhere else. This would affect how they thought.
The soldiers who fought in the war did so for freedom and their rights, this shows the morals they had which was the base that this country is based on. Even thought each man knew that each day may have been their last due to hunger, disease, or a shot they stayed.
“They had also a battery of six guns a little higher up the river, at a place called the Hospital point. This is a short description of the place which I was destined, with a few others, to defend against whatever force, land or marine, the enemy might see fit to bring against it.” These men had heart and were determined to demand their independence. Their fighting spirit brought something that the British couldn’t take.
