Kyle Hassan: Future Animal Cop
When I turn 14 I plan to apply to volunteer with the Nassau Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). They have a program for kids who are interested in careers in the field of law enforcement. The programs are based on five areas: career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character education, and leadership experience. I really hope that I can get into this program because it will give me a good idea what the job is all about. Even though the SPCA is different from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), I think this would still be a good opportunity for me to learn about the job that they do.
The reason I would like to do this is because I love animals and I don't like to see them hurt or mistreated. I had my dog, Chelsea, all my life. She was always there for me, If I got yelled at for doing something wrong she would put her head on my lap an sit there next to me until I felt better. She slept at the bottom of my bed. I used to walk her and feed her all the time she was great! When I was little, she used to walk by me and take my food right out of my hand when I wasn't paying attention. When she would get mad at me she would lick the back of my neck because I hated that feeling and it would annoy me so much, I would cry. She died and I loved her very much. Chelsea is the main reason I feel being an officer for the ASPCA...
