Did you know there are millions of animals being tested for human products? Lab experiments involving animals are wasteful, unreliable and even dangerous. The use of animal on experiments should be banned because is a life we should appreciate like one other.
The experiments with animals are a wasteful process. The US drug industry invests $50 billion per year in research, but the approval of new drugs is the same as 50 years ago. Only 6% of 4,300 international companies involved in drug development have registered a new drug with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration since 1950. Even those drugs that are approved are not universally effective by the individual reactions because the top ten highest-grossing drugs in the USA only help between 1 in 4 and 1 in 25 people who take them. However, scientists have developed modern effective non-animal research method that are cheaper, faster, and more accurate than animal tests, like human-based micro dosing, in vitro technology, human-patient simulators, and computer modeling.
Talking of methods more accurate than animals, animal testing can be an unreliable course. A 90% of drugs fail in human trials because of the results in animal tests. In addition, a recent study found out of 93 dangerous drug side effects and only the 19% could have been predicted by animal tests. This happened because animals don’t get many diseases like humans do, such as Parkinson’s disease, major types of heart disease, many types of cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, HIV or schizophrenia.
The animal testing is a dangerous trial because animals don’t have diseases like human do. A clinical trial of Hepatitis B drug fialuridine had to be stopped because caused severe liver damage in seven patients and five...
