The aim of this essay assignment is to answer 7 questions provided for the Managing Organisational Design and Change module. This essay will emphasise the overall significance of people management practices in managing successful organisational change. More specifically, the research questions gave us students the opportunity to demonstrate our understanding of the overall module, the ability to think clearly, present, describe, and evaluate our analysis of topics such as: Scenario planning, Strategic drift more importance on Total Quality Management (TQM), the quality Gurus such as Kaoru Ishikawa and his theory on Quality Cycle. Furthermore appropriate references will be included to explore the reason behind why business uses the tool and framework.

This scenario planning subject is a fairly new scheme with respect to its implications on organisations.
According to John Thompson (2005, P. 197) scenarios are frequently used in strategic management to explore future possibilities. Thompson (2005, P. 197) also states that possible happenings and events are considered by looking at potential outcomes from particular causes and seeking to explain why things might occur.
Slack, Chambers and Johnston (2010) believe that a scenario planning offers a long-term goal for an organisation and as a result challenges managers to re-examine their assumptions and consider a range of possibilities for the organisation. The application of scenario planning sustain a long-term strategy, allowing managers to make strategic decisions under circumstances of uncertainty, also bring into line key stakeholders in support of shared goal.
Slaughter (2000) also believes that a scenario can be beneficial to gain a number of different ends, as an example, it can provide a clear image of the possible future. Slaughter (2000) believes that scenario is perceived to be as a useful tool as it can do many things such as dramatize trends and alternatives as well as explore the influence and implication of decision, choices, and strategies. Additionally it provides vision into cause-and-effects sequences. By identifying and sequencing all the projects and initiatives that would be needed to comprehend each future scenario, an implementation pathway can be developed.
The diagram below shows that the scenario planning methodology allows improvement alongside a path of elements with mutual to many possible prospects which provides better flexibility for responding to changing potentials. Although the pathway can be disapproved simply because it has to be as realistic as possible, for the reason that some of the data can be subjective as it can be opinion based Johnson and Schole (2011). The diagrams bellow shows that if all individual pathways are organized on top each other the project and initiatives overlap in time, known as the common themes.
