Socrates once said, "The only true wisdom is knowing that you know nothing." I would like to learn for the sake of learning, education, appreciation, dedication, and success. As an immigrant from Taiwan, I was given a chance to seek better education in America, in New York. I am awfully grateful of my parent for bringing me here, sacrificing the best they had for my siblings and me. I have been advanced in math since 3rd grade and advance in science since 8th grade. My school, Columbia Secondary also offer engineering classes like computer science which I am currently taking. I am very well on top of all my classes and I maintain good grades all the time. Some of these upperclassmen showed maturity, capability, pride and achievements when they walk down the hallway going to take a Columbia Course. I would like to follow their path. Participating in this program would help me reach my academic goals by benefiting my approaches. Progress takes steps and taking college courses would foster and assist these steps both in direction and tempo. Dreams don’t come true unless I do it and work for it. And Sassoon says, “The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.”
I am qualified to be in a college course, participate in the High School Visiting Student program, and take on college level work. I am suitable for these challenges because I am considered mature by everyone around me. The magnitude of work to be done for these courses would not exhaust me to the point of failure or quitting because I am experience with loads of tasks and struggles at the same time.
