Write a summary of Document 1.
Document 1 was written in 1741 and was written by John Edward. This content connects to other times because of the talk of Christianity and how without avert to it you will have to pay for your sins this is the message the Spanish were relaying to the Native Americans too.
The audience that was intended to hear the sermon were the colonists of Connecticut those who fled from the Christian faith. You know this because he says “wicked men” he is referring to the people who neglect to follow Christ.
Edwards’s purpose was to relay the message that only the mercy of God keeps people from going to hell and if they do not begin to follow the Christian faith they will all feel the wrath of God. This sermon was written with the attempt to persuade.
And for the point of view Edward’s was a white, male, pastor this reflects the source because you can tell form the excerpt that it was written with the attempt of striking the fear of God into people and make them change their ways . Also Edward pulls part of his speech from the bible.
What value does Document 1 have in answering the historical question?
This document relates back to Atlantic World because through Atlantic trade was also the spread of religion and if Britain taxed their entire item they would lose business except for in Britain and that would stop them from being able to spread their religion and it would also stop Britain from receiving new types of religion.

Document 2 was written in 1660 on September, 13th in England. This connects to other times because it relates to when Spanish exploited the Americas for its natural resources the English Monarch is exploiting their citizens by controlling every part of trade and adding taxes to gain the highest financial benefit.
The intended audience is for the Act are the citizens of England and the colonists of the Americas. You know this because in the article it states “the strength of this kingdom is so much concerned” which implies that the content is directed to the kingdom of people or citizens.
The purpose of this article is to inform the people of England and the Americas that the way trade has worked before will change and there will be a more strict way of fulfilling this job.
