In fact, some other countries, including some states in the United States banned the usage of cellphone while driving. Some examples of states in the US are Ohio and Pennsylvania. Cellphones are being banned because of many accidents, but majority of people use them anyway. So it is more likely hard to prevent accidents because a lot people do not follow the laws.
People also use cellphones when they are walking down the street without paying attention to their environment. This can lead to danger, not only to themselves, but also to other pedestrians. It was reported that pedestrian injuries are related from falling off walkways or bridges to walking in front of moving traffic while sending messages. One article in 2010 reported that more than 1,500 pedestrians were treated in emergency rooms for cell-phone related incidents (Smola).
Cellphones are also dangerous because they can create explosions. Some people even use them while in the gasoline station, which is not safe for everyone around them. This is one of the reasons why most of the chargers are purposely designed to be very short, so people will not be able to use them while storing its energy. However, most people do not have enough knowledge to understand how their cellphones component functions that forces them to use inappropriately. As a matter of fact, a lot of explosions have happened around the globe, especially in Asia. One incident happened in India, when a 10-year-old boy injured himself when he was using his phone while it was being charged that causes the cellphone to explode.
