It was a long day’s work; listening to my teacher read The Twits, playing and running around like crazy during recess with my friends, and turning in my homework. Yeah! It was exhausting so many duties for an 8 year old so by the end of my day I needed to relax. Finally, arriving home my favorite after school show was about to start so I would grab my food bowl and wait with my siblings for the show Arthur to start in the PBS Kids channel. This show was my life! It was different compared to Sesame Street, which was aired at the same time; it was an animated show with lots of humor. This episode “Arthur’s Almost Live Not Real Music Festival” contained catchy music, humor, and mystic stories ...view middle of the document...
Such “happiness” reflected by children and adults by reading both fictional and non-fictional books is a good message to motivate a child to read. The scene transitions with many books of different colors covering the TV screen and then every character is walking along the sidewalk with a library card in hand to go to the library as adults are already inside reading. This scene demonstrates that children like adults enjoy reading books for different reasons. It is a hobby that can be enjoyed by many. It influences the viewers to want to read so that we can possible become an adult that has a degree with knowledge and experience. However, I also think that there is other ways to gain knowledge and a degree, such as obtaining hands on learning, and discussing ideas, but it is also great to read any book because it expands our vocabulary and reading comprehension.
Moreover, all the children characters in Elwood city arrive at the library, which happen to look like a castle with a welcoming sign that reads “Elwood City Library.” The castle library already looks like something from a book. It plays with our imagination as children. A castle that was brought to “life” since it was constructed in their real world. Such monumental and magical library suggests that once a child reads a book that is fictional he/she will be motivated to be someone unimaginable or construct cool stuff that is not common in the real world. Grasping an idea and making it real. It is motivational in a sense because if we read anything in a book, we might then find ourselves trying to make those dreams come true or even expanding from such ideas. I remember reading many books about animals and then creating a fort. Why did you love it? When children read from a book and grasp an idea he/she can increase their creativity and experiment different ways of having fun. Although, I like the scene because the library “castle” comes from a book, but I also think that when children read from a book and it is not something safe it can be dangerous. Simply because children can also find ideas that are not necessarily good and they might reconstruct or experiment without knowing the negative aspects of such ideas...
