In David Henry’s movie depicts how Asian Americans are stereotyped in the media and movies. During the movie a Caucasian fools a director in audition and pretends to be a stereotyped Asian American. “Yellow Face” is an Asian American movie that explains how Asians are used in mass media. In doing so I would begin to explain how much negative effect it will be on society.
I will use four to five articles in my essay to show what roles Asian Americans get in the Hollywood movies. In general Asian Americans students are most academic achievers but when it comes to act in movies they are stereotyped and their English accent is used as foreign accent even ...view middle of the document...
The movie shows all Asian Americans look alike but we all are different by race, religion, and ethnicity. In the article they say Asian have black eyes black hair and short height even we all are different.
I will be using the other article name, Ethnic Confusion Takes the Stage at Theater. It explains that how Hwang mixes fiction and reality here in “face value”. It says Hwang’s reactions to Marcus embrace his Asian identity to if he will accept the stage name of Marcus Gee that drives him how daunting is the issues raised here. In the article it also explains us how ethnicity represents in art “yellow face” analyzes how roles are played by sexuality and race.
Within my conclusion, I will explain how Asian Americans are used in the movies as stereotypes. In the movies they show they are resists and have foreign accent it’s not true we all are not same. I will be using those articles to explain that they should not give stereotypical roles to Asians they did not deserve it.it is wrong to give Asian Americans stereotypical roles in movies because it portrays a limited view on this group and everyone should be given the opportunity to show their uniqueness.
