B2 B / B2 C Marketing Essay

772 words - 3 pages

IntroductionIn order to carry out a comparative analysis it is important to determine where in the supply chain B2B marketing ends and B2C marketing begins. The simplest approach would define B2C marketing as all activities accomplished by the organization selling goods or services to the consumer. A more sophisticated approach would make the separation earlier. The difference in marketing is that a B2B "seller" tries to differentiate itself from its competition by marketing its value proposition to its target market as one that will save the "buyer" companies a great deal of time and money by automating as much of their supply chain as possible. They do this through the traditional offline methods of advertising, tradeshow, field sales etc. along with websites that provide customer only access to their accounts and inventory. In addition, e-mail marketing and other communications using the supply chain channels is effective. In addition, B2B companies attempt to automate the trading process in order to improve it. B2B marketers are far more likely to hold some information about their customer base than B2C marketers. There is a much closer relationship between B2B sales teams and their customers. In many ways this makes building a list much easier. It would appear that althoughB2C gets more publicity, the amount of money transacted annually through B2B is greater.B2C MarketingThe major characteristic of B2C is...
