Nowadays with the growth of internet usage among people, there are always bad effect of internet. One of the problems that always occur in internet is cybercrime or scam.
According to Brittanica.com cyber-crime also can be define as computer crime which the use of a computer as an instrument to further illegal ends, such as committing fraud, trafficking in child pornography and intellectual property, stealing identities, or violating privacy. Cybercrime, especially through the Internet, has grown in importance as the computer has become central to commerce, entertainment, and government.
Because of the early and widespread adoption of computers and the Internet in the United States, most of the earliest victims and villains of cybercrime were Americans. By the 21st century, though, hardly a hamlet remained anywhere in the world that had not been touched by cybercrime of one sort or another.
The first recorded cybercrime took place in the year 1820! That is not surprising considering the fact that the abacus, which is thought to be the earliest form of a computer, has been around since 3500 B.C. in India, Japan and China.
In 1820, Joseph-Marie Jacquard, a textile manufacturer in France, produced the loom. This device allowed the repetition of a series of steps in the weaving of special fabrics. This resulted in a fear amongst Jacquard's employees that their traditional employment and livelihood were being threatened.
They committed acts of sabotage to discourage Jacquard from further use of the new technology. This is the first ever recorded cybercrime. Today computers have come a long way, with neural networks and Nano-computing promising to turn every atom in a glass of water into a computer capable of performing a Billion operations per second.
Cyber crime is an evil having its origin in the growing dependence on computers in modern life. In a day and age when everything from microwave ovens and refrigerators to nuclear power plants is being run on computers, cyber crime has assumed rather sinister implications. Cybercrime involving fraud is at an alarming state with the value of cybercrime this year expected to surpass the RM1.1bil recorded in 2012.
According to Australian Institute of Criminology there are 9 type of cybercrime that normally commit by cybercriminals such as theft of telecommunications services ,communications in furtherance of criminal conspiracies, telecommunications piracy, dissemination of offensive materials, electronic money laundering and tax evasion, electronic vandalism, terrorism and extortion, sales and investment fraud, illegal interception of telecommunications, and electronic funds transfer fraud.
Cyber bully ot electronic vandalism is quite popular nowadays as a lot of internet medium such as social network have pop up in internet and can be used by anybody. This could lead to new type of bully that can be commit without the perpetrators commit it...
