Tanning beds are extremely dangerous and are a main cause of skin cancer because of the UVA and UVB rays used in tanning beds. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States with more than two million people diagnosed daily. (Katz) Not only can the rays from a tanning bed cause skin cancer, but it can also cause serious damage to your eyesight. Also, many people tend to visit the tanning bed several times a week triggering a severe addiction. People should never risk their lives using a tanning bed because of the damage it can cause your skin and health.

The FDA says, “Photokeratitis and cataracts as the two most common eye damage conditions associated with an overabundant amount of UV radiation exposure.” People do not realize that the radiation levels inside the tanning bed can be one hundred times stronger than the suns radiation.
