Leadership

Leadership, what exactly is it? According to Richard L. Daft he says, that Leadership is "an influence relationship among leaders and followers who intend real changes and outcomes that reflect their shared purposes." Furthermore, "It is important to remember that most people are not born with natural leadership skills and qualities, but leadership can be learned and developed" (Daft, 2002). Studies have determined there are certain traits that most leaders have in common, drive, desire to achieve honesty, integrity, self confidence, the desire to lead, etc. But, I believe that the most critical trait, ability or skill, is one that is learned through the power of observation and experience. To be an effective leader one must understand human nature. A key to becoming an effective leader and exercising competent leadership is to know how to effectively utilize all of ones resources to achieve that goal or mission one is undertaking.
