William Henry Gates IIIBill gates has ultimately became known as the richest man and the most successful business man in the world. His net worth is more than any of us can imagine, nonetheless ever acquire, and has made him one of the most powerful persons. He has managed impact our lives in a tremendous way and we probably wouldn't even know how to handle ourselves if computers were not around to assist us in our lives. Computers are now used in our daily routines and Bill Gates has been able to make them so easy for us to use and within a regular families budget, that almost every household has at least one PC. All of this began with a small boy who had an intellect for science and math and a strange passion for computers.William H. Gates was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington to William H. Gates II and Mary Gates. Bill Gates's father worked for a Seattle law firm as a prominent attorney and his mother, Mary, was a schoolteacher. William's parents were married in 1951 and two years later gave birth to their first child, Kristanne. Two years later Bill was brought in to this world and in 1964 his younger sister, Libby, was born. Bill Gates was born into a family with a history in business, politics, and community service. His great grandfather had been a state legislator and mayor, his grandfather was the vice president of a national bank, and his father was a prominent lawyer. Ever since Bill was a small boy, it was obvious that he inherited the ambition, intelligence, and competitive nature that had made his family prosperous. In elementary school, he displayed a vast amount of knowledge that surpassed all of his peer's abilities in nearly all subjects, especially math and science. When his parents realized that he needed something more challenging, they decided to enroll him in Lakeside, a private school known for its intense academic environment. This decision would be the beginning to Bill Gates prosperity in life, for Lakeside was where he was first introduced to computers. In the seventh grade he met his soon to be best friend and business partner for life, Paul Allen. At the age of 13 in the eighth grade, Gates was first introduced to computers and the programming languages. That year Lakeside had bought a Teletype machine and computer time. It was on the Teletype that Gates and Allen wrote the first programs in BASIC, at the mere age of 13. The school participated in a time sharing system of GE, a Mark II. The Teletype ASR-33 was connected to GE by phone lines. At the time, the school was one of the few that provided the students with access to a computer. Bill and Paul were immediately hooked and within a week, they had already acquired more knowledge than their computer teacher!Bill Gates, Paul Allen, and a few other Lakeside students (many of whom were the first programmers hired at Microsoft) immediately became inseparable from the computer. They would stay in the computer room all day and night writing programs,...
