Burger King Sells Images Of Oral Sex

983 words - 4 pages

Fast food advertising is a billion dollar industry. Advertisers use such gimmicks as celebrities, and cartoon characters. Many fast food chains have their own cute character to represent them. These characters draw the attention of the young preschoolers, tweens and teens. The celebrity athlete or current pop musicians are used to advertise fast food and again draws in the tweens, teens and 20 something adults. There are the ads that say to you, “Mom needs a break tonight”, “tell her you want (any fast food restaurant name) for dinner tonight.” There are the ads that show beautiful, thin women eating fast food usually with the look of satisfaction on their faces. Lastly let’s not ...view middle of the document...

Under the price you see the word meal, also capitalized in bold black type. Smaller black font it reads “Fill your desire for something long, juicy, and flame-grilled with the NEW BK SUPER SEVEN INCHER.” The phase NEW BK SUPER SEVEN INCHER again is bold capital black lettering. Yearn for more after you tasted the mine blowing burger that comes with single beef patty, topped with American cheese, crispy onions and the A 1 Thick & Hearty Steak Sauce.
The second ad also advertising, Burger King’s Seven Incher sandwich looks slightly different. This is a photograph of a strawberry blond, haired woman, wearing a white collar polo shirt. I am sure the white shirt was chosen to represent innocents. Around her neck rests necklace with a pendent. Her dark brown eyes look to be slightly cross-eyed focused on the seven inch burger. Her mouth opens ready to taste the burger she holds close to her mouth. Her expression is one of pleasure. She actually looks eager to eat this burger. Under this woman are the words, in bold black, capital letters “BLOW ONE AND SWALLOW.”

The images of these ads are clearly conveying graphic sexual association to the Burger King Seven Inch Sandwich. The image suggests oral sex and if by chance you don’t quite get it with the images check out the wording. Once again the wording re-enforces the double innuendo of the image. This ad will certainly put specific sexual ideas into a man’s head. This add obviously aimed toward the 18 – 30 something year old male. It is safe to say if the ad agency was trying to market both genders, they failed miserably.
This ad clearly dehumanizes woman. With the burger in lined with the woman’s opened mouth, surprised, joyful, look. To men it creates unrealistic fantasy of oral sex. Not only can...
