“My Life as a Cook”

Being a cook during these days are crucial! My job isn’t the easiest in the world. Some of us, including myself, get burnt all the time. I even taste the food my fellow cooks and I prepare for poison, just so the king wouldn’t get sick. He’s been the best king I’ve ever known and would go through those procedures just to keep my king safe, in return for him keeping me safe in his castle.
Let me tell ya, the king has many friends. The banquets I prepare food for take long hours in the kitchen next to the blazing hearth. Man is that thing hot! I have to prepare 6 courses of food! Imagine that...6 courses! That’s enough to feed about 100 and more of his peers. All was welcome to these banquets. It’s not only for the rich and famous. We also feed the less fortunate as a part of the king’s fair and kind heart. The king even has a chaplain that would say grace before meals. Only rule was to know how to eat properly and have table manners. At occasions when I eat with the people I’ve cooked for, everyone seems to abide by these proper rules. Some people don’t know how to pray or spoons and knives, but they try there hardest just to impress the king.
On regular days, I prepare hunks of bread and a pot of ale. I add cheese to the preparation when it was available. There really isn’t a variety to choose from. I serve what I can get my hands on. Sometimes...
