Medical coverage pays for reasonable medical expenses or death benefits to anyone covered under your policy in the event of an auto accident, regardless of fault. Although this type of coverage sounds redundant if you are paying for health insurance, it is an important part in your insurance. It covers the passengers in your car, as well as covering you while you are a passenger in someone else's car. Medical coverage may cover the cost of emergency medical care including ambulance transportation, emergency room expenses, in-patient hospital stays, X-rays and lab tests, as well as follow-up medical visits to a doctor. In the instance of a catastrophic event, you will be glad you don’t have to worry about the bulk of the medical bills while everything else in you your life is going on.
Personal Injury Protection covers expenses related to injuries you sustained in a covered accident, such as medical and hospital bills, and expenses that are not covered by your health insurance. This type of coverage is very similar to medical coverage. The difference is that medical coverage covers everyone injured in an accident, while Personal Injury Protection only covers you. Also, Personal Injury Protection is required by most states, while medical coverage is not.
Comprehensive Coverage covers damage to your car that is not the result of a collision. That means this is the kind of coverage that would cover damage in a flood, tornado, fire, theft, vandalism, or falling objects. Comprehensive coverage can provide you the peace of mind of knowing you are protected in the event of a covered peril.
