Caroline Chisholm assisted a lot of people during her life. She moved to Madras to be with he husband, Archibald, while he was at work in the Army. While she was in Madras she saw many young homeless girls on the streets, so she decided to open a school for these girls, they would learn to read, write, cook and clean. The first time Caroline went to England, she tried to locate the families of convicts and move them to Australia to be with their loved ones. Caroline saw the ships the immigrants where sailing on and she thought they where appalling, so she decided to charter her own ships for the immigrants to move to Australia and Charles Dickens used Caroline as inspiration for his work. 127
