I strongly agree with cell phones being banned while driving. I can honestly say that I have almost run in to someone’s back on numerous occasions because I was focused on texting on my phone. I think driving while using cell phones should be banned because of the many car accidents they are causing, it is causing ones insurance to rise, and it is causing concerns to people health issues. The question is people more concerned more with their conveniences more than they are with their safety or safety of others. It is a habit that spreads like STDs. Driving while using a cell phone to drunk driving, in both cases, a person does not have enough focus and mentally capacity to carry out a potentially dangerous activity like driving. If you have this habit, do not forget about this also. Banning cell phone while driving will keep a safe distance from accidents. One cannot focus fully on the road and the other vehicles, if one keeps talking on phone consistently while driving.
Another reason and perhaps a more tangible reason to ban the usage of cell phones while driving, is to prevent car insurance from rising. In society, money is tight when it comes to doing different thing with the way the economy is now. If you can, try being careful because the money you put towards careless accident that can be prevented can be put toward a light bill, etc. The more the number of tickets you attract against your name, the higher the insurance will be. In recent studies companies are paying close attention to the link between cell phone use and car accident and many auto insurance websites warn of the distracted driving. It states that the person that is at fault for a car accident caused by cell phone use or ticketed for talking on phone while driving, their insurance premium is likely to rise. In these times of recession, insurance companies are waiting for something to happen to increase ones insurance. Insurance companies can easily track a person tickets no matter where the citations were issued. I think if people cannot wait to stop and talked on the phone, they can pull over somewhere to place the necessary calls they need to make.
Last of all, banning the use of cell phones will prevent different health issues. One common sight that we see is that people of mobile phones next to their ears. It was observed that people that people using cell phones are prone to high blood pressures. However, electromagnetic radiation from cell phones does have a potential link to cancer. It has been many cases that the longer people used mobile phones; the more likely they are to report symptoms such as hot ears burning skin, and headaches. According to recent studies cell phones can cause dizziness, nausea and headaches. It also questioned why more appropriate research is not being done in this area. According to Dr. Cox, an occupational physician “ there is good theoretical and clinical evidence to support the hypothesis that some people, perhaps 5% to 8% of mobile phone users, have transient symptoms of vestibular disturbance associated with their use.” He also points to the fact that the number of cell phone users increase.
I understand that cell phones are convenient while driving. It will be occasions where there might be a car accident and the cell might come in good use to call 911.
