Navnet ascorbinsyre kommer af anti scorbut (imod skørbug). Det er bedre kendt som C-vitamin. Ascorbinsyre er vigtigt for os, da det fortrinsvist bliver brugt som en antioxidant i vores krop, så vi får lettere ved at optage jern. Dette sker ved at den reducerer Fe3+ til Fe2+. Ascorbinsyre har molekyleformlen C6H8O6. Ascorbinsyre kan findes i friske frugter og grønsager så som citrusfrugter, jordbær, solbær, kiwi, blomkål og grønkål. Ascorbinsyre er en svag syre, hvilket kan ses ved at den ikke er 100% protolyseret i vand. Vi vil i forsøget lave en potentiometrisk titrering af Ascorbinsyre med basen Natriumhydroxid (NaOH).
