Chinese immigrants faced a difficult time in America. They had to
overcome a lot of hardships in order to survive. They had to overcome poverty in
their country to get here while still facing cheap wages when working here. They
got payed little to work in harsh environments that most Americans were to afraid
to. Some Chinese were also stealing some of the Americans jobs which led to a
lot of people hating them. The Chinese overcame poverty, harsh conditions, and
racism to survive in America.
The Chinese, along with the rest of the world, had heard about the so

This dynamite would often times explode even at the slight
movement or touch. It was said that the Americans would sit back and laugh at
some of the Chinese flying through the air if they got blown out of the mines.
During the winters the Chinese would sometimes freeze standing up while
working on the railroad. If this happened the other Chinese immigrants would just
have to work around them. Some chinese lost fingers on the track because their
fingers got stuck to the train track, so they just had to cut off their fingers. During
the spring when the snow on the railroad would start melting and the earth started
thawing out they would often find missing tools or parts, or even people that
were buried under the harsh snow of the winter. They also had horrible sleeping
conditions. Some of the immigrants did not even have a bed to sleep at on at all
you would jut have to find room on the ground.
The Chinese were willing to work for cheap pay as long as they received
money. This wave of immigrants working for super cheap caused some
Americans to be fired from there jobs because the Chinese would work so much
cheaper. The Americans absolutely hated the Chinese with all there hearts. The
government set up an act called the “Chinese Exclusion Act” which made all
Chinese immigrants go back to china to free up more American job opportunities.
