INTRO:
Did you ever see lemon clocks or potato clock in a cartoon or a movie and thought how is it possible? Shockley it is possible! If you want to know how you’re in the right place! All of your questions are in this report. You’ll learn about electricity and fruits that can produce electricity. Buckle up, we are about to travel to the land of cool information’s about fruit electricity!
KEY QUESTION: What makes a fruit a citrus?
INFORMATION:
There’ a lot of types of fruits in this world and one of them are citrus fruits. Citrus fruits are from plants in a rue family, rue family is a family of flowering plants. Most citrus fruits come from ...view middle of the document...
In order to produce electricity from citrus fruits you need 2 types of metal (Zinc and copper). The copper allows the acid in the fruit to start reacting with the oxygen to form water. This causes the copper ions and free electrons. The zinc metal blends in to the acid to form zinc ions and 2 free electrons. The 2 free electrons rushes toward the copper ions and balances them. All of this releases the electricity to flow through the objects and produce 1 volt of electricity per fruit. That’s how citrus fruits produce electricity.
KEY QUESTION: What is electricity?
INFORMATION:
Electricity is everywhere around us. Electricity lights up our homes, cooks our food, powers our phones and computers, television sets, and other electronic devices. All matters are made out of atoms; atom is the basic unit of a chemical element. There are three main particles that creates atom; proton, neutron, and electron. A proton is a positive electric charge equal in magnitude to that of an electron, but of opposite sign. Neutron is the same mass as a proton but without an electric charge. The electrons spin around the center of atoms. The electron has a negative charge and the proton has a positive charge. Neutrons are neutral – they have neither a positive nor a negative charge. Each atom has a specific number of electrons, protons and neutrons. But no matter how many particles an atom has, the number of electrons needs to be the same as the number of protons. If the numbers are the same, the atom is called balanced. An atom that loses electrons has more protons than the electrons and is positively charged. An atom that gains electrons has more negative particles and is negatively charged. Electrons can be made to move from one atom to another. When those electrons move between the atoms, it creates electricity. All of these that work together are called electricity.
KEY QUESTION: What measures electricity?
INFORMATION:
We use electricity everyday but do you know what measures electricity? Electricity is measured by...
