Schools all over the United States argue and debate over if school uniforms should be required or not. Most schools that do require these school uniforms don’t have very happy students. Some people say making students wear these uniforms will stop a lot of problems. Kids won’t get bullied as much and won’t be judged on the clothing they like to wear. Other people say this wont change anything. Requiring students to wear uniforms isn’t going to stop bullying. Bullies will be bullies, if they can’t make fun of other childrens clothes anymore, they’ll move onto other things to judge them for.
Students use the way they dress as a way to express themselves. Many students argue that they lose their identity when they lose their right to express themselves through fashion. 90% of all schools across the U.S that insist school uniforms require a certain colored top and bottom. Students use the way they dress to show what kind of person they are, making them dress all the same won’t show their individuality. Some people also say that having uniforms will reduce the risks of students getting bullied. But in reality, the bullies will just take this as a challenge.
Since they can’t make fun of other people for what they wear since they're wearing the same thing, they’ll find other things to judge them for. Their hair, accessories they wear, makeup, and other things. To completely stop bullying, you would have to make everyone look exactly the same, and thats not possible. Wearing uniforms takes away the freedom of choice, there's not a lot of freedom at public schools as it is. Why take away the little they have.
The price of buying school clothes is the same price as buying school uniforms if not more. School uniforms can be very costly tho. Maybe even more money than just buying regular clothes the child will actually like. Requiring school uniforms to be worn at school means everyone has to wear them.
