Community service is services volunteered by individuals or an organization to benefit a community or its institutions. At 10:00 the students arrived and a presentation was displayed to them on what their task was going to be and the job they should accomplish by the end of the sessions. The schools were Lakeview Academy, and World Languages. The group that I was assigned to was six kids from Lakeview Middle School. They each received a green folder that contained their occupation, family size, credit score, age, relationship status, and income. Their job was to take in all of the given information and try to manage and budget their money by traveling to the different stores and purchasing things that they were interested in for them or their family. Before they started, I signed them in the computer system and reassured them on the directions one more time before they went off to venture out to the real world experience. Then the director announced that it was time to rotate to different stores and they rotated.
The student had two hours to rotate to each store. In the duration of rotation I passed out information about my store. After the two hours was over we sat down with the group that I was assigned and we started the process of budgeting. Some of the kids knew what they were doing, while others needed help on deciding what to buy. One girl in my grouped named Hannah was unsure how to purchase cell phone plans with her family. She wanted to buy all smart phones, but when she added up her total she found out the she was in...
