Vietnam is a country that has long history. Chinese dominated Vietnam for 1,000 years. The French also dominated the country for 61 years. However, Vietnam gets most influence from China, which is one of the most powerful countries in the world after America. Although Viet Nam gets most influence from China but Viet Nam and China also have very special customs that exist in each country. This essay will compare and contrast their religion, festival and food’s style.

That is very important in some country and become the basic religion of that country. “Buddhism is the third of the great religions which have contributed to the molding of Vietnamese culture and character over the centuries. Buddha was a contemporary of Confucius, and the religion he founded entered Vietnam from both India, Buddha's home, and China. Today it is perhaps the most visible of Vietnamese religious beliefs.” (history, n.d.). The architecture of Buddha is very unique. Especially, four noble animals mostly used in these were dragon, phoenix, phosphorus and turtle. Dragon stood for king. In imagination, dragon was known as animals controlling the weather. It became the symbol. Phosphorus symbolizes peace and transparency. Phoenix symbolizes much characteristics. Its head stands for justice. Its eyes are for the sun and the moon. Its back carries dome while feather is grass. Its tail is like star. Its foot stand for earth. Phoenix stands for universe. In Vietnam, we trust phoenix symbolizes noble class, womanliness. Turtle symbolizes for undying and everlasting. There are many temples stand in each part of Viet Nam. In that temple, Vietnamese people built up Buddha statue in many materials. For example, by stone, limestone or for more special is by gold, which is the most expensive material. Vietnamese people expressed the respect to Buddhism.
Secondly, the festival in Viet Nam and China has a similarity. There are some festivals all over the world and also Viet Nam. Talk about Viet Nam, cannot talk about Tet. That is a very important festival and so China do. Tet is a traditional festival.
