Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin both have many similarities and differences with one another. There are few characters that can be compared and contrasted, but two that stood out the most were Mr. Darcy and Heathcliff. In Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff shared common life problems with Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. For example, both Mr. Darcy and Heathcliff have complicated love lives that struggled till the end. Expressing emotions for both characters was a difficult task to accomplish throughout novels. The amount of wealth plays key roles in both Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice. Also mentioning, the similarities and differences between the writing styles by both authors use.
Mr. Darcy and Heathcliff both have difficult love lives that are presented in the novels. The difference is that Heathcliff is in love with his best friend/sister who he grow up with and spent all his childhood. Mr. Darcy on the other hand fell in love with the women who his friend introduces to him. As it is seen, both men are in love but end up in a different twist. Heathcliff who does not get marry Catherine, but Mr. Darcy gets the advantage to marry his beloved Elizabeth.
In Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy was born into wealth from the start. In Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff was adopted into the wealthy life. In Heathcliff’s case, he was a gypsy on the streets and was taken in custody by Mr. Ernshaw as his own son. Mr. Darcy a rich gentleman already was a son to his rich father. Regardless the fact Mr. Darcy and Heathcliff were apart of wealthy families, Heathcliff was not born into wealth like Mr. Darcy.
