As the common cliché goes, being in love with someone is like riding a roller coaster. It’s filled with ups and downs and twists and turns. In both occurrences, them can leave with pain, whether that be physical or emotional. They vary in aspects of manifestation, though, and in side effects. Love may resemble a roller coaster, but they are almost completely incompatible.
Loving someone can be the hardest thing a person will ever do. Almost everyone becomes excited and giddy at the thought of love, but it is not always what it is seems to be. However, they are not always the same, as they are very different. Love is merely an emotion that everyone experiences at one point or another during their lifetimes. ‘Love lights up parts of our brains, showing connection to caring and empathy. Love is a momentary and long lasting state of mind. Love is often felt when one feels a deep connection with someone else or when their hearts beat as one. They often use the same facial expressions and gestures too. It can also be a long lasting mental/emotional state of mind where we care deeply about someone else, sympathize with their pain, and feel motivated to relieve them from their suffering. Love not only benefits a person's mental state, but their physical one too! Research has proven that love also helps maintain a person’s physical health! Love also helps decrease activation of fear. When one loves another, they increase their capacity to love. In other words, the more they love their significant other, the more they will be able to love others too’, says Melanie Greenberg, Ph.D.
Some look roller coasters and think that they are a metal-made death trap. They carry their passengers with them through the loops and twists at an astounding 60 miles per hour! The mere idea of roller coasters came about in the 18th century Russia. They would build ice slides up to seventy feet tall and use sleds to slide down them during the 15th and 16th centuries. Finally, in 1784, Russia built the first-ever roller coaster. They made their way to Paris, where the name ‘roller coaster’ was originally used. They finally made their way to the United States in 1884 at Coney Island and became a very popular ride at fairs and carnivals. Today, there are roller coasters in which they ride sitting down, hanging, or even standing up! A roller coaster named Mumbo Jumbo, located at Flamingo Land in the UK, is the record holder the steepest drop at 112 degrees! As time has progressed, roller coasters have been modified to today’s versions.
