Job Description:Computer engineers develop the internal parts of computers. An example of an engineer is an employee of computer giant Intel, who helps design and develop the processor chip in the computers we use in our everyday lives. They also design and develop graphics card accelerators (which allow computer monitors to display high-quality graphics quickly), and motherboards (which act as the communication interface between the CPU, memory chips and peripherals). They also develop the disk drives, hard drives, computer monitors and memory components (ex. They are at ease with technology in their presence and have good problem solving skills. I am a person who fits into all of these categories.Drawbacks:The pressure for speedy development and the competitive market translates into long working hours for many computer engineers. On a normal day, a computer engineer works nine to 12 hours. Most of them will also work on the weekend.Computer engineers may spend a long portion of their day working on a computer, which may cause eye and neck strain. They labour anywhere the computer industry is budding, usually in major business centres.Stability:There are unions like the CCPE (Canadian Council of Professional Engineers) in this career. Layoffs aren't very common since the market is so competitive and time is not a luxury that employers can afford.
