Computer InformationThere are many different components that affect the way a computer runs and the way it is used. Technology has come a long way over the years and computers are able to do many things that could not previously be imagined. Our lives have become easier through their existence. In this paper, methods of input, output, storage, and speed will be covered and defined. There are many uses for computers and it is vital for one to comprehend the best way to utilize the equipment that is available. If properly used, tasks can be done faster, more effectively. Methods of Data InputThere are many different methods of data input used in a computer system. Each situation may call for a different type of method to be used in order for the task to be done accurately. Some of these situations are questionnaires, telephone surveys, bank checks, retail tags, and documents. It is important to choose the correct method. In the instance of a printed questionnaire, one would be best suited to use an optical mark recognizer. The scanner is able to detect the marks made on the paper and quickly input them into the computer (Rainer & Cegielski, 2011).A telephone survey could be input into a computer using a voice recognition device. This device is able to convert sound waves into a digital form (Rainer & Cegielski, 2011). It would make the completion of a telephone survey much easier and less time consuming. It would also make it simpler for an employee to analyze data between each customer that was interviewed.Bank checks could be inputted using a magnetic ink character device. The device reads the magnetic ink located on the check and is able to identify information pertaining to it, such as the account and check numbers, as well as the bank it came from (Rainer & Cegielski, 2011). I have used one of these devices in the past while working as a cashier at the Post Exchange in Fort Hood. They are simple to use and do not take long to process.Retails tags are input using a bar code scanner. The scanner shines a light over the barcode lines on the tag (Rainer & Cegielski, 2011). It works instantly and keeps track of inventory. Lastly, there are long documents, which are best input using an optical character recognition sensor. This is software that translates text into digital form in order to put it into the computer (Rainer & Cegielski, 2011).Methods of OutputJust as there are many ways to input information, there are also many ways to output information. Some situations where methods of output are used are hand-held computers, color photographs, resumes, memorandums, statistical reports, and company annual reports.Hand-held computers are used by many people. It is an easy way to access a computer no matter where one may be. A hand-held computer uses organic light-emitting diodes, which provide light-weight, bright, and cheaper way to access the internet and use the computer (Rainer & Cegielski, 2011).Color photographs are easy...
