First area that related to consumer sciences is health and food intake. The most common consumers’ issue regarding health is medication and surgical errors. Medication error means any incorrect or wrongful of a medication gives to patient that leads to or has the potential to harm the patient. Surgical errors include wrong-site surgery, nerve damage, leaving equipment inside a patient and anesthesia errors. Second issue is physician and nurse shortage. A physician and nurse shortage is a situation in which there are not enough physicians and nurses to treat all patients in need of reasonable medical care.

Next issue is food labeling requirements where food packaging should be labeled like what have been prescribed under Food Act 1983 and Food Regulations 1985. Then it comes to food safety issues. Besides, there is licensing issue too. Consumers may encounter developers who operate without a valid license and being cheated by them.

Moreover, there is issue on obtaining the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) late. This issue leads to the fifth issue where the defect liability period becomes short as its liability period is calculated from the time the purchasers get the vacant possession but not upon the issuance of CCC. Any defect in the said Building which shall become apparent within a period of 24 months after the date the purchaser takes vacant possession (defect liability period), shall be repaired by the developer at its own cost and expenses within thirty (30) days of its having received written notice thereof from the purchaser. In fact, the purchaser get the CCC late and thus move into the house late or there are some defects that may take up to 3 to 5 years to be detected, but at that time the repairing cost has to be paid by the purchaser.

Another area in relation to consumer sciences is about the supply of various products and services. Firstly, there is issue on product safety. Nowadays, there are many unsafe products and products that are not of acceptable quality in the marketplace. Furthermore, there is issue on unsatisfactory services. Not all the service providers practice reasonable care and skill in treating consumers. Third issue

Following issue concerning products and services is consumer rights of redress. It is hard for consumers to get what they really want because in order to redress there are several procedures to be followed such as they have to allow the manufacturers rectify their mistakes first although consumers are in doubt with manufacturers’ ability after they have unpleasant experiences with that particular manufacturer. Finally, consumer consumption pattern is also an issue. Consumers are believed to have problems like compulsive consumption and addictive consumption.
