Corporate Success
I chose the subject of corporate success because I work in a corporate office. My major is Business Management, in which I am fascinated. I feel this research will help me understand my chosen career path better. I am familiar with the structure, policies and procedures within the corporate world, but I know there is more to a successful business than just what is seen on the surface. There are many aspects of a business that make it profitable and successful. If you have one person with a great idea you can make it successful.
With our ever changing technology and the digital age, competition has become fierce. If companies do not keep up with the new technology, the business may not be profitable and could end up suffering severe hardships. I want to know how each department of a business works for the greater good of the corporation. I want to learn how they complement each other to make a company profitable. It is my goal to learn each aspect, starting at the hourly employee though the Chief Executive Officer. This includes production, finance, marketing and sales. It is my hope to have a clear vision of how a corporation becomes and stays successful throughout the years. I want to understand what it takes to make a business successful in today’s world. I want to see how a corporation becomes successful from the ground up.
I know I go to work every day in a corporate office and I know that I have a job to do and I know what that job is. I know that I must function with other departments in order to do my particular job. I also know that if I fail to meet the requirements on a daily basis, I could end up losing my job. I realize that as a collector, I am expected to make a certain number of calls per day. I must keep my receivables at an acceptable level or my boss will be having a talk with me. Questioning why I am not accomplishing the goals set for me. I know I must prioritize my day to be at my most efficient; due the fact that the company I work for is direct mail advertising. There are deadlines to meet in order to get the magazines in the mail on time. If the magazines are delayed it will cost the company money. I know I also am expected to resolve disputes in a timely manner as to not interfere with advertisers contracted advertisements.
What I do not know is why this is all so important in my little corner of the corporation. So I set out on my search to find the answers I needed to know. The first and most important thing was to understand each function of the company, and how it all trickles down to my success being a part of the corporation’s success. I started out by researching what the definition of success is. I must say it is not an easy definition because it means different things to many different people. From a corporation stand point, success means being profitable and being able to stay in business. It also means hiring the right people to reach that level of success.
