Society today has brain washed both men and women in believing that considered beautiful one must look like models shown on magazine, television and in movies. This causes people to undergo plastic surgery. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, plastic surgery was first used in India as early as 800 B.C. Not only does it enhance self-image but also self concept. Reconstructive ways has also been done nearly more to children than adults. Plastic surgery's categorized as either cosmetic or reconstructive surgery depending on the situation and image you want to portray but they both have their pros and cons.
Cosmetic surgery's done mainly to people who want to improve their physical features. Some examples of cosmetic surgery include Botox, cheek life, breast reduction, breast lift, abdomen reduction and more. According to mail online about a "number of men having Botox has increased by 25 percent this year and tripled since 2011." This shows that men are much more likely to have Botox then women because they want to change their reputation. For example, on the web page Huffpost Celebrity, songwriter Toby Sheldon went and spent "almost $100,000 on five years worth of plastic surgery to make him look like his idol Justin Bieber." Many people undergo cosmetic surgery to make themselves look like their idol or because they want to fit someone else's ideal image. Cosmetic surgery is always a personal choice and done to fulfill yourself not someone else's description of beautiful.

But some women fear that their implants can look unrealistic or unnatural. Other women have the fear of being diagnosed with breast cancer. Studies show that "1684 [of] women [had] invasive breast cancer, 12.6% reported a first-degree relative with breast cancer" (167). Not only does cosmetic breast surgery bring fiscal risks but so do the rest of the surgeries given. Other risks include scarring, nerve damage, blood clots, heart attack and even death. Therefore, improving your appearance can can cost not only money but also your life.
Reconstructive surgery's performed to improve an abnormal feature due to trauma, birth defect, infection, tumors and diseases.
