Creating Fantasies
The next step toward advancing technology was to create the first video game. In 1952, a British programmer created the first graphical computer game of tic-tac-toe. In October 1958, physicist William Higinbotham created what is thought to be the first video game. The game was called Tennis for Two. In order to play these games, gaming consoles are needed. So, the Magnavox Odyssey was made in 1972. Game designing is a very tedious process, but it is worth it at the end. There are character, level, perfection, sound effect, and action designers. Human Computer Interaction is the best major because it focuses on every one of those building blocks. The only downside about this major is that it is rarely offered in colleges. A four year bachelor’s degree is needed also. I will be in school for a while, but it is worth it. After mastering all of these, committing to a part in the game is next. Designing the characters is the most difficult one. Their whole personalities have to be done. The second most difficult one is creating the levels or stages in a game. These are pretty much everything seen in a game, but the characters. There are the people who have to add animations like kicks and punches to each character to make them fight or whatever the case may be. These characters need sound effects and people that are doing this job have the most fun. They create sounds for the guns that are fired or when a person in the game gets hurt. Finally, the last job is the last job of creating the video game. People who play and carefully observe the game for any mistakes or flaws and corrects them. If I want to become a successful game designer one day, I must have certain skill or talents. For one, Programming needs to be at the tips of my fingers. I will need to give my full undivided attention with no interruption and listen carefully. I have to “understand sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.” “Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems,” is a talent I will need. “Observing complex problems and looking back on related information to make solutions.” Making legit and well thought decisions when it comes to gaining or losing money. A skill that is not really important, but is nice to have is to know I will learn something new every day. ...
