Looking at the different jobs, I can say that I would be motivated if I work in a job that seeks energetic and entrepreneurial self-starters in business management and marketing work. I believe jobs along this sphere would provide motivation for me in each of Maslow’s levels because I feel that this job shall utilize my strengths and fill all the needs in my life. I am basically a business-minded person although a bit timid at times. Yet, my drive to work more when motivated can go full steam. I have the ability to communicate information orally and visually in various settings. Another important strength I possess is my ability to work autonomously and generate ideas with limited direction and oversight. I love interacting with people and this is where my skills in marketing come in.
Employees in this job differ from each other in many ways. They have different abilities, personalities and needs. Based on studies, experts have created numerous theories to explain the nature of differences among people, the development of individual differences and the goal of maximizing productivity of people in the organization. Today’s business climate is always confronted by change and adversities that could pose a problem for any workforce. These changes and adversities are often treated as threats, hindrances, and obstacles that may hamper the growth and development of a business in terms of its profitability, stability, especially the workforce’s morale. When these problems arise and the management loses control of the situation, more serious problems can happen to the point that they can possibly lead to the firm’s bankruptcy.
I am imbued with the ability to work in teams so that the failure of a firm would be farthest from my mind. I am able to bring new ideas to old problems aptly called “out-of-box thinkers.” In this regard, I also have the skills to learn new technologies in order to communicate at a high level to potential clients. Growing trends in small businesses are closely aligned with e-commerce technologies. Graduates of my course would usually find jobs that lead to careers as human resources managers, information and marketing managers, real estate sales representatives, land agents and property managers.
According to Max DePree (1992), the former CEO of Herman Miller and author of numerous books, “leadership combines the unpredictability of the future with the gifts of individuals” (DePree, p. 9). In other words, it is the individuality and interpersonal relationships that define leadership. (Hopkins). Management plays a critical role in ensuring that no business failure brought about by mismanaged human resources can happen. Management must always be pro-active in preventing such eventualities. It must be vigilant in detecting possible areas that can disintegrate a strong and progressive business and so contingent measures must be at hand to put things always under control.
