This paper will discuss a case study "Let it Pour My First Assignment as Executive Assistant" (Let It Pour, 2004). Chris Smith is looking forward to a new challenge as the executive assistant to the chief professional officer at Faith Community Hospital. Chris is a recent graduate of the University of Phoenix. Chris's first assignment is to put together a report that will serve as the guide to her boss, Pat's, first employee meeting in ten years. This is a difficult task that Chris has been handed, but with the skills learned at the University of Phoenix, Chris should be able to achieve success.Chris will use the three or nine step (University Of Phoenix, 2004) decision making model to accomplish the first assignment for Pat.Framing the problemI have organized and categorized all possible symptoms and in the end it seems to be that they fall into one of the following four categories. Having said that I believe that there are four major problems that need to be dealt with in the staff meeting.* Organizational processes* Ethical issues* Communication systems* Biased or one sided information* Define criteria, goals and objectivesThis meeting needs to be kept upbeat since the media will be present. We need to focus on the changes that will be put in place as well as celebrate the employees and all the accomplishments of the hospital.The goal of this staff meeting is to share with the employees where we are currently, where we plan on going and how we plan to get there.The objectives are to give the employees a firm understanding of how the hospital is to be run and to give them the needed tools to perform their jobs.Evaluate effect of the problem(s)The problems outlined above are wreaking havoc in Faith Community Hospital. These problems are causing patients and family members to have too much say in their medical treatment. The patients and family members are at times not doing what is in their best interest, but instead doing what they believe is the best course of action.The organizational processes problems are arising when hospital policies are not followed. The hospital has very clear policies, however since there is no organization it is allowing the staff to make decisions that are already made through policy. These policies are not and should not be open to interpretation and they should be followed to the letter.The lack of communication is playing a role in this problem as well. Well-structured communication would essentially end any misunderstandings that the entire hospital has.Ethics is playing its role in the problems simply because no one person can change the way another person's belief system is structured.
