Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is gaining its popularity in China. Over the past decade, an increasing number of Chinese companies have begun to produce CSR reports with more overseas companies becoming mindful of their liability in China. These companies either choose to commit themselves to building infrastructures or to promoting a healthy life style. Whatever they do, it is undeniable that such acts do good to Chinese society. In terms of contribution of CSR, based on Chinese situation, CSR will benefit Chinese society for its good in protecting environment, improving the quality of life and cultivating the talented.

Secondly, encouraging CSR is beneficial to society for it improves the quality of life. Particularly, the firm with CSR will improve local infrastructure through donation and investment. From 2009 to 2011, the United Technologies Corporation donated 200 libraries to students in nine remote and poor areas in China and presented over 107,000 books for these students. Due to this donation, 44,000 pupils benefited and gained broader access to knowledge (Zhang Jihong, 2014). Besides, the firm with CSR guides people to a healthy life style. Four years ago, Nestle Healthy Kids Program was launched, aimed at improving malnutrition and obesity and spreading scientific health knowledge for children from 6 to 12. In this program, professional dietitians introduced basic nutritious knowledge for students, teachers as well as cooks, and improved the food at the schools. From 2010 to 2012, the program had covered 70 primary schools, 100,000 children and 3,000 teachers (Nestle, 2012).
Furthermore, CSR practices are beneficial to cultivate the talented for society. In particular, companies with CSR will support the students from poor area. Launched in 2010, E-hope program of HUAWEI, one of the most popular telecommunication companies in China, enables 300,000 children in 1,000 schools to gain exercises within 3 years in all over the world (HUAWEI, 2013). Moreover, companies with CSR will train their employees so that they will have a brighter future. (China Airlines official website, 2010) As an example, in 2010, there were totally 37 classes for employees in China Airlines so that 1130 employees were trained in various ways. These free training courses helped employees from China Airlines to be integrated elites who can master more knowledge and devote more to society.
