Cults Can Be Very Bad And Dangerous

650 words - 3 pages

Cults can be bad influences in several different ways. This article is about real facts of why cults make society a much worse place. Cults can result in crimes, torture, and forbidden worship.
Cult is a “system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.” (Sopko). There are different cults all across the world. Cults have distinctly different beliefs and devotions. For instance, some cults that are formed to follow a particular real life figure, and other cults are formed to follow (or worship) a spiritual being that might be part of a certain organized religion. One example of a cult would be the KKK (Ivan).
There have been many horrible crimes that have been committed by members of some cults, including crime cases such as murder, kidnapping, assault, and sexual-assault. There have been terrorist attacks against certain cults that made death threats in the past. (Richardson).

Cult cases that involved kidnapping, mostly had to do in recruiting cult members (Ivan).
Children are the most vulnerable to “brainwashing” and “mind control”, which is another theory of why most cult kidnapping cases mostly involved young children (Langone & Eisenberg). Child abduction is one of the most common crimes that tie to organized cults. It is also believed that children who resist joining a cult are sometimes brutally beaten or murdered, by cult members (Langone & Eisenberg).
There have been many reports of child neglect, physical abuse, and psychological abuse to children in a cult. All these cases could involve leaving a child on its own, physical torture, and locking a child in a dark room for days (Ivan). It is believed that cult members do this to young children because they believe it is a necessary punishment. These cases all lead to cults, that occasionally visit small local churches (Sopko).
In many cults, very dangerous diseases can easily be spread to other cult members, and sometimes to people that live in near-by communities. Young members of those diseased cults have a greater chance of getting the disease (Richardson). Those sick children often die of the disease, which is known as medical neglect.
Satanic cults are known to be one of the most darkest cults in the world (Sopko). There have been reports of Satanic worship across the nation. It is not entirely known of what kind of activity goes on in Satanic cults, but there are quite a few crimes that have been committed. These crimes are kidnapping, rape, and murder. It also has been reported that people are being kidnapped for so called “religious purposes” (Richardson). A lot of people believe that people that are kidnapped are then put into “sacrificial ceremonies”, and some then they are “brainwashed” into joining the cult. But it is hard to find real evidence that these events really happened. Many Satanic cult members that have committed major crimes in the past have gone to trial (Sopko).
Cults are normally not a good a thing to have in communities. They lead into violence, crime, and forbidden worships. Cults typically lead to brainwashing their members. There seems to be no positive effects in having cults.
