Cultural Diversity, a term that is widely used within many professions describes the variations among employees and/or cultural groups while covering an extensive range of influencing precursors relating to personal and professional characteristics. Less obvious, but equally important influencing factors are non-verbal and unseen characteristics such as spiritual, religious, and social understandings and values must also be considered when evaluating “Diversity in the Workplace (Boggs, 2007, p. 235). The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors and variables that influence “Diversity in the Workplace.”

“Ethnos” or ethics provides individuals with a personal awareness of certain symbolic elements and considers the value of human behaviors as a motivating factor when defining actions. Spiritual relations and geographical locations are factors that have been implicated within the term “ethnicity. A primary example of this perceptive is “quality of care” in which differences exist between patient and client are mitigated and/or minimized during conflicting situations of care.
Minorities such as individuals of a certain races and/or color including the aging population have been excluded from the mainstream profession of nursing “label.” What this entails is that many individuals will perceive minorities as less than equal with the normality of this profession, thus, creating a segregation within the organization between nurse-to-nurse and nurse-to-client. Solutions to effective implement in order to efficiently address such concerns include that of mentoring, educational support, commitment, role-modeling and culturally diverse recruitment practices (L. Norman, 2005, pp. 282-289) .
One of the most recognizable issues regarding that lack of adequate professional nurses is the absence of effective connections and communications between nursing professionals and their culturally diverse population of patients and/or clients.
