Although one may claim themselves to belong to a specific party that does not mean that their beliefs do not drift from the ideas of the other party. As you will soon notice, the Republican Party tends to be more conservative in their ways and beliefs compared to the Democrats on specific topics like military, gun control, abortion, and gay rights.The Democratic Party was the first party to come into existence. It traces its origins to the anti-federalists factions around the time American became independent from British rule. These factions resulted in a split party thus creating the Democrat- Republican Party. The ones held responsible for this event were Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, along with other influential opponents of the Federalists in 1792. Since the division of the party, an activist by the name of Franklin D. Roosevelt has had a huge impact on the Democratic Party and their economic agenda since 1932. The Republican Party was founded in the year of 1854 by anti- slavery expansion activists and modernizers. The party gained power after the election of Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president. The party presided with historical events such as the American Civil War and the Civil War. They were also harried by internal factions and scandals by the end of the 19th century. As of now, the Republican Party is a pro-business supporter with a much greater intellect on economic stances and a higher viewpoints of religious rights.Both of these parties, the Democrats and Republicans, have varying ideas on different subjects.
