There are several methods we use in communicating to someone; to reach different outcomes. These are called verbal and non- verbal communications, the non-verbal way is called demonstrative communication. This way is considered to be the use of body language and facial expressions. People can misunderstand a facial expression or body language, and this can lead to hostel situations. It is imperative for someone to familiarize them self with the different facial and body actions, to avoid reading the wrong thing when evaluating these communications.
According to Quintanilla, K., & Wahl, S. (2014), it is extremely important to develop the art of listening to be an effective communicator. If you go into a communication without listening to the other side, it will put a strain on the working relationship. If the employee does not listen, his or her boss is unlikely to approve them for a promotion. This will also put a strain on any the person’s personal relationships at home. If the person refuses to listen to their significant others side of the communication, he or she cannot have an equal relationship leading to problems in the house (Quintanilla, K., & Wahl, S., 2014).

Having a strong and confident hand shake tells the other person a lot about the other person. This should be performed while looking the other person in the eye with a pleasant smile on your face. This is different when shaking the hand of a woman versus a man, the man should get a firm hand shake while the women should get delicate hand shake. When this performed improperly, the communications can fail before getting started. This can have an opposite affect when this is done properly, it can instill confidence in a customer or a superior (Quintanilla, K., & Wahl, S., 2014).
