Report To Compare and Contrast Marc Newson To Oscar Niemeyer
Designing is the planning or drawing that people produce that shows how something may function, work or look like. It is everywhere in our society today and is an important factor in the world. It also allows people to express their views, ideas and creative flairs in different ways. Such as how today we will be looking out how Marc Newson designs compared to Oscar Niemeyer. Although they are people of very different times, different cultures and different passions there is still one thing for sure that unites them which is designing for individuals and the world.

Some examples of Newson’s work would be the Qantas sky bed, which he designed. This connecting to modernism as relates to the development of planes and how he is very interested in that kind of designing as well. Although when we compare these two designers in terms of modernism we find very different examples, they are both still creating and designing things in that specific area.
Another similarity that these two designers have in common would be there technique. This is shown through their designs as well as their words, like how Newson said that he likes to draw design from biomorphism or use this. This is a style that uses smooth flowing edges and not a lot of sharp edges. Like how in Niemeyer’s work he uses a lot of curves in his buildings and designs. This is shown through the Brazil National Museum which is a building that has no defiant lines as it is like a circle cut in half and placed face down, Copan Building that is has a curve going into the building rather than having it a plain square, making it quite a unique building as well. Some examples from Newson’s work would be the Embryo Chair, which features a lot of curves and smooth round edges. So these designs show how similar their use of curved lines and how affective that is in there designing and creating is.
Marc Newson and Oscar Niemeyer grew up on different sides of the world. Newson grew up in Australia and Niemeyer grew up in Brazil. But all of the products are designed so that they can be used by different cultures. As both of these designers did not stay in one country to design but designed things for other countries and were able to experience cultural diversity by doing so, thus affecting what they would design when it came to many cultures. Marc Newson was able to create things that seemed so simple but so complex for a general market across the globe as he knew what people wanted in products from different places in Europe as an example. Oscar Niemeyer was able to design as well buildings that didn’t just target one specific culture or country. Although he did do some projects that ere aimed at a specific culture and country he also did others. Such as the International Cultural Centre. Which he designed so well that he made that building have no representation any cultures but so that it was neutral and a place of peace.
Another thing that Newson and Niemeyer have in common would be that they were both aiming for a similar target market. They both had clients that they needed to meet with and get approval of there designs with. Also Marc and Oscar were both...
