Developing Effective Cross Cultural Training Seminars

Cross Cultural ability is no longer seen as a soft topic, but is now seen as a required skill in the modern business world due to globalization. The lack of cultural knowledge can be disastrous for a company, and fail in their goals as a business can retaliate with bad customer service and staff contribution. Consequently the company would be wasting time and money without the proper cultural training in their targeted business area.
Successful companies mainly use several factors to keep a business growing internationally. For instance, globalized communications, also the media and movements of the people make it complex for international organizations to guarantee their businesses from standing out of the rest. Cross-cultural and intercultural training, is a slight appreciation from 30 years ago, has grown into a conventional approval in the past 10 years with international businesses appointing into a large and sometimes expensive selection of cross cultural training programs for their outgoing employees to foreign countries. Globalized companies have gone through a huge process to make the company work intentionally through developing an effective cross cultural training. In this paper we will discuss from advantages and disadvantages of cross-cultural ability to the procedures of developing the training to make a company sustainable to keep it steady in a business world.
What is Culture?
Culture has several meanings. For many, culture is referred as a lifestyle, music, and beliefs. However, in the business world, culture is a key factor to the globalization in companies. Culture influences many factors from, management, resolutions and all business functions from production to accounting in the company. According to the book “Psychology and Culture: Thinking, Feeling and Behaving in a Global Context,“ the author states that business culture is related to behavior, ethics, etiquette and more. A business will compass as organization’s values, visions, working style, beliefs and habits. (Vaughn)

Cross-cultural training is the main intervention to make an individual conscious and able to handle and work in an international environment. The training basically achieves an efficient knowledge to accomplish greater success in the business. Nowadays, firms are looking to expand their business as globalization has cause an impact to societies, but how does it work in favor of the companies after big investment to create new businesses in different parts of the world. According to the libertarians, globalization will help us to raise the global economy only when the involved power blocks have mutual trust and respect for each other’s opinion.
